Jayne – Long Covid & OCD

A friend suggested that I should give Graham a go.

OCD and covid don’t make good friends.

If you’re reading these reviews, wondering if hypnotherapy is for you but concerned that it may be a bit woo woo, a little bit ‘look into my eyes’ then let me reassure you that this is not what this therapy is about. It’s actually quite sciencey – I’m really enjoying learning about brain stuff and Graham’s fab at explaining the differences between the chemicals, what they do, how they can affect your brain function and how change can happen.

Graham and I started working together about five months ago and I really look forward to and enjoy our online meetings; I feel revitalised after each session. I’m given good strategies for dealing with my issues and am experiencing great results so far.

In the past, I have had CBT which was quite helpful but also quite scary as I had to face situations which were uncomfortable, to say the least, but hypnotherapy has been a very positive experience – there’s no requirement to focus on looking back and delve into past trauma, so the sessions feel safe and enjoyable.

The trancy bit is very, very relaxing and to be totally honest, I’m not quite sure what’s happening (brain-wise) but I think that nuggets of new thinking patterns are suggested. At the very least, it’s a wonderful quietening down of my chatty head.

I think successful therapy is dependant on how you get on with the therapist conducting the sessions and I have found Graham to be a warm, compassionate, insightful and gentle person who puts my well being first, goes at a steady pace and also brings a good dose of humour to our sessions which really suits me. All in all a very positive experience.

At forty five years of age I had spent some of my life flying high, a fair amount treading water and semi-frequent periods of sinking, gasping for air. With the help of solution focused hypnotherapy I found ways to utilise my own resources to better my life. No gimmicks, no energies or mysticism involved, just neuroscience, some probing questioning and relaxation as a reward. Four years later and I was training to give others the same leg up that I received, hence this site.
